10th GEF Biennial International Waters Conference
Event Details:
Location
Punta del Este, Maldonado
Uruguay
The tenth International Waters Conference, hosted by the Government of Uruguay, will celebrate 30 years of the Global Environment Facility's (GEF) International Waters focal area.
Research Development Manager Eric Hartge, along with partners from the Micronesia Conservation Trust, will attend the conference to share learnings from our execution of the GEF-supported project Strengthening and Enabling the Micronesia Challenge 2030, which aims to strengthen transboundary integrated marine resource management for healthy marine ecosystems and sustainable coastal fisheries in Micronesia. The project builds on the Micronesia Challenge 2030 (MC2030) conservation, community benefit, and process targets and is recognized by MC2030 partner jurisdictions including Palau, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The overall MC2030 conservation target is to effectively manage at least 50% of marine resources and 30% of terrestrial resources across Micronesia by 2030.
