Curbing Illegal Fishing

COS is leading an effort by the Friends of Ocean Action (a group of global leaders convened by the UN and the World Economic Forum) to accelerate action on illegal fishing and human rights violations.  We are working with a range of stakeholders to develop tools that provide transparency across the tuna supply chain and are engaging governments and companies to act to screen illegal seafood out of their ports and supply chains. As part of that effort, we are also working with the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF), composed of companies that account for 85% of the canned tuna industry, and human rights experts, to develop and implement a strategy to eradicate slavery in the tuna sector.
