Rizzi founded Jupiter Research Foundation in 2003 to develop new technologies that can monitor the natural world and report the findings to the public. Rizzi felt inspired to create the foundation when he heard the songs of humpback whales. You can hear the sounds that inspired him at the Jupiter Research Foundation site. Previously, he was a general partner of Matrix Partners LLP, a premier Silicon Valley venture capital organization focused on early stage software and communications companies. While at Matrix, Mr. Rizzi helped launch and was on the board of many small and large companies, including SanDisk Corporation and Veritas Software (now Symantec). He founded and ran several companies in Silicon Valley during the 1970s and 1980s.

Mr. Rizzi has extensive semiconductor industry experience. He was a founder of Intersil and ELXSI, after having held executive positions at Fairchild Semiconductor. Mr. Rizzi is on the board of directors of several early stage technology companies.

He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering.
