Chloe Chan

Chloe Chan is a research fellow at the Center for Ocean Solutions and is sponsored by the King Center on Global Development. With the Center for Ocean Solutions team, she is working to better understand gender disparities in the sand mining industry; more specifically, the roles of women in the sand value chain, how they are affected by sand mining, and whether they have a voice in decision-making processes.

Chloe is currently a sophomore at Stanford University pursuing Human Biology and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her involvement in environmental justice initiatives in high school sparked her passion for exposing the discrimination that manifests itself in the environment. Today, she is passionate about exploring the connections between environment, gender, and race as they relate to socioeconomic disparities and health outcomes. Chloe is grateful to be able to work with the Center for Ocean Solutions team and support its goals and initiatives.
