Katie Jewett

Katie Jewett translates research, innovation, and impact into stories for audiences around the world. In her role, she works to increase visibility for the Center for Ocean Solutions and the Stanford Sustainability Accelerator. She’s passionate about the power of storytelling to shift perspectives, inspire hope, and shed new light on how to address pressing sustainability challenges.  

Katie previously worked at the California Academy of Sciences, where she publicized biodiversity research and wrote for the institution's flagship magazine, bioGraphic. Prior to joining the Academy, she worked aboard sailing and power vessels, documenting science through video and other multimedia pieces.

Katie has joined field expeditions to the North Atlantic Gyre, Rapa Nui, Malaysia, and the Galápagos and brings a background in science writing, media production, and public outreach. She has a bachelor’s degree in human biology from Stanford University with a focus on marine policy and science communication.

Katie lives aboard her sailboat, spending each day communicating ocean and sustainability topics while on the water.
