Nahla is a Research Assistant with the Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions where she works on projects related to marine resource conflict and labor abuses in fisheries.
Having completed a B.A. in International Relations with minors in Human Biology and Human Rights, she is now working on an M.A. in Earth Systems, Environmental Communication at Stanford University. She is interested in the intersection of human rights and climate issues and, specifically, in how this intersection manifests itself on our world’s oceans.
Nahla is passionate about traveling, listening to people’s stories, and climbing mountains, and has loved discovering California’s coast through surfing. As a dive instructor and emergency first response instructor, she seeks to share her love for the underwater world and to give people the skills they need to explore nature.
