Sophia Sanders
Sophia Sanders is a MUIR Fellow at the Center for Ocean Solutions through the Mentoring Undergraduates in Interdisciplinary Research (MUIR) Fellowship Program. Her work with the Center focuses on communications and engagement under the Oceans and Food initiative, aiming to raise the profile of blue foods in global dialogues and communicate about the critical role of blue foods in a sustainable and healthy global food system.
Sophia is a co-term student in the Earth Systems program with a minor in Creative Writing. Her love of the beach, writing, and the food industry sparked her interest in finding pathways for seafood to meet its potential as a key part of improving global food security and nutrition, while reducing the carbon footprint of food production. She is passionate about the ways communication can promote sustainable behaviors and improve both human and planetary health, and is excited to be working with the Center for Ocean Solutions in this space.
