Report: The Marine Life Management Act: A Prelimnary Policy Assessment of Six California Fisheries

This report presents a policy analysis of how California’s Marine Life Management Act (MLMA), the statute governing marine resources, is implemented in practice for six select fisheries. We discuss how the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the California Fish and Game Commission interpreted key provisions of the MLMA through the lens of a subset of economically and geographically important state-managed fisheries.
