On Thursday, October 17th, join us for a talk with New York Times reporter Ian Urbina on his new book, The Outlaw Ocean. Ian is an investigative reporter and a Pulitzer Prize winning author. The Outlaw Ocean explores issues of illegal fishing, seafood slavery, and environmental degradation in a riveting, adrenaline-fueled tour of a rampantly criminal world that few have ever seen: the high seas.

Please join COS co-director Jim Leape in welcoming Ian as he introduces us to the inhabitants of this hidden world, drawing on five years of perilous and intrepid reporting and a passion for understanding some of the most pressing ocean-related issues of our time.
