New DNA tool 'changes everything in marine science'

With eDNA, or environmental DNA, Stanford scientists can count fish and other animals just by collecting a small sample of water. Environmental DNA (eDNA) uses filtered water samples to capture and then identify DNA from organisms present in an ecosystem. These capabilities show potential as a monitoring and stock assessment tool.
