New podcast: Co-Director Micheli discusses the future of the ocean

Co-director Fiorenza Micheli recently joined Stanford Engineering professor and The Future of Everythingpodcast host Russ Altman for a conversation about climate change, overfishing and engaging in ocean science. The podcast series explores how technology, science and medicine are shaping our lives.

"I started being interested in oceans as far back as I can remember," Micheli explains. "As a kid growing up in Italy by the Mediterranean Sea, I spent a lot of time by the sea and in the water." Micheli's work has spanned topics of ocean acidification, marine protected areas, fisheries management and global food security, among others. 

Along with discussing research projects and conservation insights, Micheli urges ocean solutions. "There is so much [research] happening now. This is an exciting time and we need to ramp up the pace of solutions and innovation for the ocean."
