Lauren Sassoubre

Former Early Career Science Fellow

Specialties: Coastal and Nearshore Environment, Hydrodynamics, Marine Genetics, Marine Technology, Water Quality

Lauren Sassoubre joined the Center for Ocean Solutions in January 2015 as an early career science fellow.  She is working on the eDNA project investigating the use of molecular techniques to identify and monitor fish in the coastal ocean.  She is interested in measuring DNA shedding and decay rates to inform future uses of molecular techniques to monitor marine ecosystem health.

Lauren earned an MS and PhD in environmental engineering at Stanford University working with Dr. Alexandria Boehm. Her PhD research investigated the effects of sunlight on microbial pollution in coastal marine waters. Lauren also has an MS in marine science from Moss Landing Marine Laboratories where she studied sediment resuspension off the continental shelf.
